Montse Triola

I founded the production company Andergraun Films in 2003 to carry out audiovisual projects of my own. Since then, I have produced the following full-length films: Honour of the Knights, Birdsong (both released at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight), Story of My Death (Golden Leopard at Locarno International Film Festival) and The Death of Louis XIV (Official Selection, Cannes Film Festival. I have also produced various audiovisual works for contemporary art world: for dOCUMENTA13 in Kassel, the Venice Art Biennale, the CCCB and the MACBA, amongst others. I combine audiovisual work with the direction of a prison Theatre Company.

Where do you find beauty?

In chaos, in contradiction, in people of integrity, in authenticity
In hand-made fashion, and in particular in the major brands Chanel and Dior who keep up the fashion of working with the best couturiers.
In some Instagram accounts
In Simon Cowell, Tracey Emin, Forced Entertainment, Ulrich Seidl, Tino Sehgal and Leigh Bowery
In plants

In leather accessories, if they are made in England
In old shops and hotels which have never been refurbished
In simplicity
In the beyond
In travel for work, but not for pleasure
In the history of cities
